Caring for Dogs as Family, Training with Compassion
About Nellie's Paws and Co
Dogs have always been more than just pets to me. Being neurodivergent means life can sometimes feel intense — the overwhelm, the racing thoughts, the emotional exhaustion that can creep in without warning. Dogs have always helped calm that noise. They’ve been a constant, and that’s something I never take for granted.
When I started my training with the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT), I noticed something was missing. There weren’t enough home-from-home boarding options, places where dogs could genuinely settle in, feel safe, and be cared for as individuals rather than numbers. I wanted to create somewhere that felt like a real home, with calm routines, gentle introductions, and the kind of personal care that means some dogs now walk through my door like it’s their second home. (Home Dog Boarding temporarily paused until further notice)
Dog training became personal for me too. I’ve worked with some brilliant trainers and attended classes with my own dogs but I still found it difficult at times. Not because the trainers weren’t doing an amazing job, but because unless you’re neurodivergent yourself, it can be hard to fully understand how training lands from the other side. Sometimes wording, pressure, and explanations hit differently. I needed things broken down in a way my brain could actually take in.
That experience stayed with me, and it shapes everything I do now. My sessions are designed to feel clear, supportive, and easy to follow with more guidance, slower pacing, practical steps, and confidence built at your own pace. No pressure, no overwhelm. Just you and your dog, making progress together.
Nellie’s Paws & Co was built from lived experience. Every part of it comes from genuinely wanting dogs and owners to feel safe, supported, and understood. I’m so grateful to the people who trust me with their dogs and I don’t take that lightly. For your peace of mind: I’m licensed by Cheshire East Council for home-from-home boarding, DBS checked, fully insured, and canine first aid trained.
I look forward to meeting you in the near future.
